About Longhorn Steakhouse
In 1981, Longhorn Steakhouse was founded in Atlanta, Georgia, by 2 best friends, Brian and George McKerrow Jr. The first location where Longhorn Steakhouse opened was an old antique store. People often visit the restaurant for a steak after drinking.
Later in 1982, a heavy snowstorm, SnowJam 82, hit the city. At this time, McKerrow offers cheap drinks and food to the stuck commuters. This offer was featured in Hudspeth’s Column, which helps restaurants during their struggling times.
After that, the Longhorn franchise expanded in the South and all over the Eastern US in 1990. In August 2007, Longhorn was purchased by Darden Restaurants, Inc., and operated by RARE Hospitality International, Inc. At that time, Longhorn Steakhouse operated approximately 500 locations all over the world.
